Everyday heroes
Dean of the College of Ethnic Studies Kenneth Monteiro was interviewed for a Sept. 30 San Francisco Examiner article about the College's Exemplary Leadership Awards. Winners were chosen "not just because of their individual contribution, but because they are people who worked with a piece of the movement," Monteiro said. "We're trying to hold up examples of ordinary people who made extraordinary impacts on the course of history."

Blue skies
The San Francisco Chronicle quoted Geosciences Lecturer Jan Null in an Oct. 5 article on recent storms and the state's reduced fire danger. "It'll be dry the rest of the week. It will be sort of a gradual warm-up," Null said. "This front will be a little breezy, and then it will be gone. It will clean out the air, and it will be nice this weekend. What's not to like about that?"
