Dollars and sense
Assistant Professor of Finance Todd Feldman discussed the financial implications and advantages of investing in individual retirement accounts (IRA) for a Dec. 6 Fox Business article. "The only safety issue regarding the IRA is that an investor should hold their IRA at a custodian that is insured by the (Securities Investor Protection Corporation)," Feldman said. It is also important to "to re-balance every six months to a year to maintain a well-diversified portfolio."

Transit travails
In a Dec. 5 article in The Atlantic Cities, Assistant Professor of Geography Jason Henderson talked about the catch-22 San Francisco’s transit policies face. "There was an assumption that there's always going to be driving everywhere, and it's always going to increase, and there needs to be a rational decision-making process to decide where limited transportation dollars should go," said Henderson. Under the current metrics, the addition of bicycle lanes is often considered detrimental to the environment, because cars may have to idle longer.
