Thomassine (Tommie) Sellers
Professor Emerita of Elementary Education Thomassine (Tommie) Sellers passed away at her home on July 19 after a long illness. Sellers earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from New York University, a master of arts degree in anthropology from Michigan State and her doctorate of education from Stanford University. In 1969, she began her SF State career as a professor in the Department of Elementary Education. Sellers trained and supervised many elementary school teachers in the city of San Francisco, and she patiently guided many of her colleagues -- and their colleagues -- through processes leading to their professional development. As the only child of parents who preceded her in death, Sellers leaves behind many friends who will miss her deeply and dearly.
