Borderland drones
Professor of International Relations Juanita Darling was interviewed for a Sept. 19 Al-Jazeera report on militarization of the U.S.-Mexico border. Although crime is low in American border cities, there is fear that the drug war violence will spill over from Mexico. "The drones and the militarization are being driven by political considerations: this is an election year," Darling said. "I don’t know if the drones are going to be used to trace the people carrying arms from the U.S. into Mexico, which has a major impact on the drug war."
