Government at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

and Industry Professor James G. Edwards traveled to Chunjli, Tawain,
in August. Edwards taught a two-week seminar on plastics technology
and product design to 19 graduate students from Chung Yuan Christian
University's college of mechanical engineering. Education
In
July, assistant professor of Secondary Education Jamal Cooks participated
in an educator's panel at "Poetry in Pedagogy: A Teacher's Institute" held
at The Tenth Annual New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival
in San Jose. He shared the podium with some of the leading poet educators
in the country and LaShawn Route-Chatmon, executive director of the
Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools.

Cynthia A. Gomez, director, health equity initiative research and sponsored
programs, received the Distinguished Leadership Award from the American Psychological
Association's Committee on Women in Psychology on August 18. She was honored
for her contributions to the health of women through community-based research,
scholarship and advocacy. |
