Thousands attend "Welcome Days" events
Aug. 18, 2011 -- There was a buzz of activity on campus this week as SF State welcomed approximately 7,000 freshmen and transfer students.
"Welcome Days" began Aug. 17, kicking off a week of events to orient new students and their families to life at SF State. In addition to academic open houses and information sessions, students and parents sampled lunch from campus eateries during a zero-waste lunch on the quad. All waste from the lunch was diverted into composting or recycling, part of SF State’s ongoing work to make the campus more sustainable.
More than 7,000 students and family members are expected to participate in Welcome Days over the next week. The lineup continues through Aug. 24 with theatre productions, a Gator talent show and student life information fairs.
