April 18 , 2011 -- Leroy M. A graduate of SF State, Morishita has served in a variety of senior leadership positions at SF State during his 29-year tenure at the campus.

"Dr. Morishita is a rare combination of visionary and pragmatist -- qualities that will serve him well as East Bay's leader," said President Robert A. Corrigan.

As executive vice president and chief financial officer at SF State, his influence can be seen in nearly every area of University life, including the academic program. He spearheaded two significant initiatives: a property acquisition program that has enlarged the campus footprint and transformed student life, and development of a physical master plan that was shaped with the academic program foremost in mind.

Raised on a grape and plum farm near Fresno, Morishita earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from University of California, Berkeley, a master’s degree in counseling from SF State, and a doctor in education in administration, planning and social policy from Harvard.

SF State will conduct a national search for a vice president of administration and finance.
