SF State models urban ecology (VIDEO)

April 13 , 2011 -- Campus Grounds at SF State has undertaken a variety of projects to reduce environmentally costly inputs like watering, fossil fuel use and fertilizer use.

At three locations on campus, lawns were allowed to grow unfettered, while being watered just once per week. Campus Grounds expanded its effort, constructing a bioswale near the science building to return rainwater to the soil and expand biodiversity.
