The resolution recognized the Institute's 30th anniversary and the positive impact it has made in the Bay Area community. The PLI offers a range of outdoor activities and experiences that teach young people life skills, such as self-esteem, trust, leadership and teamwork. Part of the College of Health and Human Services, the Institute serves youth from schools and community-based organizations as well as SF State students. It is best known for its Fort Miley Adventure Challenge Course, a ropes course at Lands End in San Francisco, operated in partnership with Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
