MBA program recognized for minority opportunities
Oct. 14 , 2010 -- SF State's MBA program was ranked No. 7 in the country for providing the greatest opportunity for minority students according to rankings released by the Princeton Review in "The Best 300 Business Schools."
"The College of Business provides its students with a rich experience that mirrors the global world in which they will live and work," said Nancy Hayes, dean of the College of Business. "Recent surveys and focus groups with College of Business alumni have indicated they feel better prepared for the diversity in today's workplaces."
To compile the rankings, opportunities for minority students were evaluated based on the percentage of students from minority groups; percentage of faculty from minority groups; student assessment of resources for minority students; student assessment of how supportive the culture is of minority students; and student assessment of whether fellow students are ethnically and racially diverse.
According to the Princeton Review report, which is based on data from the 2007-08 academic year, 35 percent of SF State's MBA faculty were minorities, 38 percent of students were from underrepresented minorities, with another 33 percent of students coming from other countries.
