Freshmen must apply by Dec. 10 for fall 2009 admission

November 24, 2008 -- In light of the CSU systemwide impaction announced Nov. 20, freshmen wishing to apply to SF State for fall 2009 are advised to submit their application as soon as possible to meet the Dec. 10 deadline.

Declared in response to state budget cuts, the CSU systemwide impaction means each campus is permitted to ask non-local students to meet additional admissions criteria such as a higher grade point average for admission. All qualified applicants from San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties will be admitted to SF State if their application is received by the Dec. 10 deadline.

San Francisco State, which draws students from throughout California, is encouraging applications from all students at this time.

"We want first-time freshmen and upper-division transfer students from San Francisco, San Mateo County and Marin to know that nothing has changed in our admissions policy and they should continue to apply as normal," said Jo Volkert, associate vice president for enrollment management. "The University is considering additional admissions criteria for students beyond these counties and details will be announced in early December."

In the meantime, all students wishing to enroll at SF State should continue to apply and should apply as early as possible.

The SF State admissions deadline for first time freshmen is Dec. 10 and the deadline for transfer students is March 2, 2009.
