Bosnian poet, writer, and filmmaker Semezdin Mehmedinovic
was born in Tuzla, Bosnia, in 1960. Sarajevo Blues, one of four books
he has authored, was written at the height of the war that destroyed Sarajevo
and was ultimately published outside the country in Ljubljana. City Lights
books published Ammiel Alcalay's translation of Sarajevo Blues in 1998.
Here Semezdin Mehmedinovic is joined by Alcalay in a reading co-sponsored
by Ivri-NASAWI. Mehmedinovic reads poems from Sarajevo Blues in both English
and Bosnian. Steve Dickison makes the introductions.
