JDP - Joint Doctoral Program in Leadership for Educational Equity CSU UC

Program

Designed for Working Professionals

The JDP is a 3-year course of study designed to accommodate the needs of working professionals. We're committed to helping students complete this rigorous program in the context of their busy professional lives.

Students in the JDP are enrolled at UC Berkeley for the entire course of study, and Spring semester classes alternate among the partnering campuses: SFSU, CSUEB, and SJSU.

Classes meet three full days per week for six-week Summer Sessions, with two additional weeks for completion of papers and meetings with faculty. During Fall and Spring semesters, classes meet every other weekend: Fridays 4:30pm - 9pm and Saturdays 9am - 5:30pm.

In addition, all students are required to participate in school and district-based residencies in order to undertake job-related, problem-based research in real-world educational settings.

Graduates will be awarded a Joint Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the Board of Regents of the University of California and the Trustees of California State University. Most will go on to work in school districts, county offices of education, and other positions above the school site level.
