GENERAL EDUCATION (Continued)

SEGMENT III: RELATIONSHIPS OF KNOWLEDGE (9 units)


General Requirements

Students subject to the 1991-92 or later Bulletin must:

  1. Complete at least nine units of upper division course work in residence at SFSU in one of the Segment III clusters listed below.
  2. Begin their Segment III course work during or after the semester in which upper division junior standing is achieved (i.e., 60 semester units), but NOT before.
  3. Begin their Segment III course work only after completing all General Education Segment I requirements.
  4. Meet all of the cluster's specific requirements.
  5. Complete at least one course in the Segment III cluster that is both outside the major department and outside the major program submitted on the student's Application for Graduation.
  6. Complete at least one course in the Segment III cluster that fulfills the Cultural, Ethnic, and Social Diversity (CESD) Requirement.

NOTE: Courses taken to fulfill Segment III cluster requirements may not also be used to fulfill Segment II requirements or the U.S. History and Government requirements.

Exceptions to this policy: Students who are entitled to earlier SFSU Bulletins may complete Segment III clusters and requirements as printed in those Bulletins.
