Welcome Days 2013 Schedule: SF State Cares
SF State cares about the well being of our students, providing education and resources to assist them in being successful and safe while part of our community. The following sessions provide students, family and guests an opportunity to discuss some of the challenges that may occur on a college campus and the University resources available to assist in managing them.
Friday, August 23rd
Welcome Transfer Students
11 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Jack Adams Hall, Cesar Chavez Student Center
Transfer students are already familiar with college life. However, every institution has its own way of doing things. Learn how to avoid barriers and roadblocks to student success.
Welcome to the Real World (First-Year Students)
11 a.m. – 12 p.m. | McKenna Theater, Creative Arts Building
Students will learn about challenges, difficult choices and their responsibility as members of the SF State community. Student actors convey some possible real-world scenarios while University departments provide tips regarding safety and wellness.
Home Away From Home (Parents and Guests)
11 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Knuth Theater, Creative Arts Building
Administrators and staff provide family and guests with important information regarding safety and wellness resources at SF State. There will be a Questions and Answers session following the panel discussion.

Saturday, August 24th
One Community – Day of Service
8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Outside the Dining Center, University Housing
Incoming students begin their San Francisco State community service experience, connecting with fellow students, SF State and the San Francisco community. Students will participate in beautification, landscaping and other service activities. RSVP available online when you register for Welcome Days.
