Campus Recreation

Location: GYM 147/Courtyard
Description: Learn more about how to get involved in fitness and recreation at SF State.

 

Career Center

Location: SSB 206
Description: Parents and students, enjoy refreshments as you learn about the career resources available at SF State.

 

College of Business Information Session

Time: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: BUS 104
Description: Business students are invited to an overview of their college, including study abroad opportunities and scholarships.

 

College of Health and Human Services

Description: Discover the resources available to HHS students.

 

Consumer & Family Studies/Dietetics

Time: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Description: The CFS/D Department offers the following programs: BS in Apparel Design & Merchandising, BS in Dietetics, BS in Interior Design, BA in Family & Consumer Sciences, MA in Family & Consumer Sciences, and a graduate certificate in Dietetics.

 

Counseling and Psychological Services

Description: Counselors provide parents with information on student mental health, University resources and advice as your child comes to campus.

 

Creative Writing

Description: The Creative Writing Department information session about the B.A. in English, Creative Writing emphasis.

 

Disability Programs and Resource Center (DPRC)

Time: 8:30 a.m. - noon

Description: Come and learn more about the resources and direct services we have available for students with disabilities. Attend a brief orientation on some of our most-requested services and accommodations, take part in our adaptive technology demonstrations, and join a tour of our Testing Accommodations site.

 

Educational Opportunity Program

Location: SSB 201
Description: The Educational Opportunity Program improves access and retention of historically under-served students by facilitating their matriculation into SF State. EOP students receive outreach, admission, academic and financial support, and receive on-going advising, tutoring and workshops to ensure completion of degree requirements.

 

EOP/Student Support Services - TRIO

Location: SSB 204
Description: Student Support Services (SSS) offers mandatory academic advising, tutoring and workshops for 160 federally low-income EOP participants. Stop by to meet SSS staff.

 

J. Paul Leonard Library Welcome Days Open House

Location: J. Paul Leonard Library
Description: Welcome to the new J. Paul Leonard Library. Self-guided tour begins in Library Events Room 121 and open computer access available in Library Research Commons 124.

 

Journalism Department Student Orientation

Time: Saturday, August 25, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: HUM 308
Description: Enjoy pizza and beverages as you learn more about the Journalism department. Transfer students will have an opportunity to receive academic advising.

 

Lavender Lounge

Location: Centennial Walkway in front of Student Services Building (SSB)
Description: An outdoor information and gathering space (tent) for LGBTQQI students, faculty, staff and administrators. Learn about on and off campus resources for the LGBTQQI community as well as network with current staff and students.

 

LEAD (Leadership, Engagement, Action, Development)

Location: SSB 105
Description: Are you interested in joining or starting a student organization and/or a Greek organization?  Do you want to learn more about leadership programs and campus activities?  Come to LEAD and talk with professional staff and students about how easy it is to get involved at SF State.

 

Philosophy Department

Description: Learn about the Philosophy Department, its three majors and faculty. A short interactive presentation and department tour included.

 

Physics & Astronomy at SFSU

Description: CEASE and The SAFE Place welcomes you to SF State. Please come by and learn about the services and resources we have to share.

 

Relationship Studies & Skills: Counseling Concepts for Psychological Growth

Location: BH 312
Description: This program describes a new course from the Department of Counseling designed to assist students in their transition to adulthood. Course covers recent findings from personality, counseling and communication studies on the establishment, maintenance and improvement of many kinds of human relationships.

 

School of Nursing

Location: BH 226
Description: The School of Nursing faculty and staff will briefly discuss the profession of nursing, pathways into the field and provide a glimpse into the nursing undergraduate program and the admission process for this upper division program.

 

So You'd Like to be a Teacher?

Time: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: BH 178
Description: Acquiring a teaching credential at the elementary and secondary levels or in special education takes preparation to ensure that you will have all requirements completed by the application date. At this presentation you will learn where to go for information and how to create a timeline for the process. Anyone interested in a California teaching credential should come and listen.

 

Social Science Student Resource Center

Description: The Social Sciences Student Resource Center's mission is to develop new leaders in politics, economics, social justice and other social science fields.

 

Student Health Center

Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Student Health Center
Description: The Student Health Center provides information about its resources including Primary Care, Women's Services, Psychiatric Services, Lab and X-Ray Services. The program will also highlight the availability of the Family PACT program, MMR, Hepatitis B and Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccinations will be provided.

Description: Find out about the many services available to you, including advising and counseling, groups, drop-in support, peer mentorship, community building and social activities.

 

Study Aboard

Description: Meet advisors, learn about programs and how to include study abroad in your SF State education.

 

Undergraduate Advising Center

Description: Through 30-minute sessions offered each half hour during this time period, find out how to make the most of your advising experience at SF State.
