Campus Recreation

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Location: GYM 147/Courtyard
Description: Learn more about how to get involved in fitness and recreation at SF State.

 

College of Health and Human Services (CHHS)

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: HSS 254
Description: Discover the resources available to CHSS students.

 

Consumer & Family Studies/Dietetics

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: BH 336
Description: This department offers the following programs: BS in Apparel Design & Merchandising, BS in Dietetics, BS in Interior Design, BA in Family & Consumer Sciences, MA in Family & Consumer Sciences, and a graduate certificate in Dietetics.

 

Counseling and Psychological Services

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Description: Counselors provide students with information on student mental health and University resources.

 

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: SSB 201
Description: The Educational Opportunity Program improves access and retention of historically under-served students at SF State. EOP students receive outreach, admission, academic and financial support, and receive on-going advising, tutoring and workshops to ensure completion of degree requirements.

 

EOP/Student Support Services - TRIO

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: SSB 204
Description: Student Support Services (SSS) offers mandatory academic advising, tutoring and workshops for 160 federally low-income EOP participants. Stop by to meet SSS staff.

 

Lavender Lounge

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: Centennial Walkway in front of Student Services Building (SSB)
Description: An outdoor information and gathering space (tent) for LGBTQQI students, faculty, staff and administrators. Learn about on and off campus resources for the LGBTQQI community as well as network with current staff and students.

 

Prevention Education Programs

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: SSB 205
Description: CEASE and The SAFE Place welcomes you to SF State. Healthy snacks and beverages will be available, as well as staff who can share more about the wellness resources available.

 

Student Involvement & Career Center

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Description: Parents and students, enjoy refreshments as you learn about career resources, campus jobs, student organizations, fraternities and sororities, leadership programs and campus activities to make the most of your experience at SF State.

 

Student Success Program

Description: Find out about the many services available to you including advising and counseling, study support, peer mentorship, groups, community building and social activities, and our drop-in center.

 

Study Aboard

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Description: Meet advisors, learn about programs and decover how you can include study abroad in your SF State education.

 

Sustainability at SF State

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: Cesar Chavez Student Center, Plaza Level
Description: Highlights current sustainability efforts and projects at SF State. Students can learn more about important environmental topics such as proper waste diversion and how to get more involved in sustainability initiatives on campus.

 

Undergraduate Advising Center

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Location: ADM 212
Description: Through 30-minute sessions offered each half hour during this time period, help you find out how to make the most of your advising experience at SF State.

 

Veterans Services Center and VA Educational Benefits at SF State

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: SSB 206
Description: Get all the information you will need to access VA Educational Benefits at SF State as well as learn about other services to Veterans, service members, and their dependents. Come learn about VETS@SFSU the Veteran Student Organization at SF State and also take a tour of VETS Corner - Veterans Community Rooms.

 

View & Pay SFSU Tuition & Fees Online

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: ADM 155
Description: Bursar's Office will explain how to view and pay SFSU tuition and fees online. We will also show students how they can set-up authorized payers.

 

Disability Programs and Resource Center (DPRC)

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: SSB 110
Description: Learn more about the resources and direct services for students with disabilities. Attend a brief orientation on some of our most-requested services and accommodations, take part in our adaptive technology demonstrations, and join a tour of our Testing Accommodations site.

 

Student Health Services Center - Open House & Vaccination Program

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. (Open House) & 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (vaccinations)
Location: Student Health Center
Description: The Student Health Services Center will be providing information about its resources including Primary Care, Women's Services, Psychiatric Services, Lab and X-Ray Services and the Family PACT program. They will also be providing vaccinations for MMR, Hepatitis B and Meningococcal Meningitis.

 

Are You Considering a Career in Nursing?

Time: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: BH 346C
Description: The School of Nursing faculty and staff will discuss the profession of nursing, pathways into the field and provide a glimpse into the nursing undergraduate program and the admission process for this upper-division program.

 

College of Business Information Session

Time: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: BUS 104
Description: Business students are invited to an overview of their college, including study abroad opportunities, scholarships, concentration options, and degree requirements.

 

Philosophy Department

Time: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: HUM 392
Description: Learn about the Philosophy Department, its three majors and faculty. A short interactive presentation will be included.

 

So You'd Like to be a Teacher?

Time: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Location: BH 178
Description: Acquiring a teaching credential at the elementary and secondary levels or in special education takes preparation to ensure all requirements are completed by the application date. Interested in a California teaching credential? Learn where to go for information and how to create a timeline for the process.

 

J. Paul Leonard Library

Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Location: Library Café (1st Floor)
Description: Welcome to the J. Paul Leonard Library. Self-guided tour begins in Library Café (1st Floor). Open computer access available in Library Research Commons 124 from Thursday, August 21 to Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

 

Physics & Astronomy at SF State

Time: 11:30 a.m.
Location: TH 334
Description: Enjoy an exciting planetarium show and tours of the observatory and the physics labs.

 

Journalism Department Mandatory Orientation

Time: Saturday, August 23rd 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Location: HUM 308
Description: The Journalism Department Mandatory Orientation is required for incoming journalism transfer students. Students will learn how to be successful students in the department and the importance of advising. They will also learn about scholarships, workshops and other events that lead to on-time graduation.
