Stephanie's Voice

How have increased tuition fees impacted you and your family?:
It's funny how I moved here from the Philippines hoping to embrace a better life from what I grew up around only to be completely stunned about the reality that exists here. With two retired parents who earned Philippine peso instead of dollars, the increasing rate of the tuition fee makes it so hard to see the light of the dreams I once dreamed. My parents are clearly struggling to make my dreams come true and it's hard to see them through this because I know it was my decision to move here.

What are you studying at SF State and what do you hope to do once you graduate?:
I'm a hard working student and I'm not sad to give up weekends to study because I want to be here but I can't even get into the classes I need to get my degree and to graduate faster. I'm an undergrad for cell and molecular biology and prerequisite classes needed to move up are impossible to get.I'm afraid I'm going to have to push aside my dreams for medschool because my parents funds for this to happen have been drained by the time it's taken me to finish my degree because of the difficulty to get classes.
