SF State Mobile Safety System

The SF State Mobile Safety System is a free and optional service that is available to students, faculty and staff at San Francisco State University.  By building a personal profile you can be sure that university police dispatchers have immediate access to information about you during an emergency.

How it Works

  • When you call 911 on campus using your mobile phone, your 911 call will go to the San Francisco Police Department.
  • Inform the dispatcher of your emergency and request to be transferred to the San Francisco State University Police.
  • Once transferred, the SF State Police dispatcher will see any information you have provided in your profile.

Personal Profile

This system is only available if you register your mobile phone number. You choose what information you would like to provide in case of emergency by building your own personal profile. Users can choose to enter personal information like physical description, medical alerts, or other information about themselves.

Your profile can be deleted at any time.

Registration

To register, please visit https://www.getrave.com/login/sfsu

  • Login with your SF State user id and password
  • Accept vendor’s Terms and Conditions
  • Register your phone.  Make sure you have your phone with you
  • Complete Personal Profile by entering an optional physical description (height, weight, etc.), and Special Notes (this is where you can list medical conditions or other information you would like the emergency responders to have)
  • Accept Terms and Conditions for the service provider and your mobile phone carrier as needed
  • Look out for confirmation message on your phone. 
  • Remember to dial 911 in case of emergency

The SF State Mobile Safety System is based on a solution provided by Rave Mobile Safety.  Rave’s systems are already in use at many universities across the US. Rave uses the latest in security technologies and processes to ensure all information is kept secure and private. They undergo regular security audits to ensure the security of data.

The system is 100% optional. Your information can be removed from the system at any time.

Protecting Your Privacy

Any information you provide for the SF State Mobile Safety System is kept completely confidential. Only university police dispatchers will see you information, and they will only access it when you contact us for assistance.  Your location can only be tracked when you dial 911.
