Fingerprinting Information

The San Francisco State University Police Department offers both Ink or "Hardcard" fingerprinting and Livescan fingerprinting. We provide fingerprinting services to students, faculty, staff and to the general public.

Before You Come In
Call ahead for an appointment (415) 338-6043.
If getting a Livescan, get a Livescan form from the person or agency requesting you be fingerprinted.
If you are getting regular ink fingerprints we provide the card.
Determine your fingerprinting costs using the prices listed below.

What to Bring to Your Appointment
Photo ID such as a drivers license or state ID card.
Campus ID card if you are a student, faculty or staff in order to receive a campus discount
Livescan form provided by your requesting agency (if getting Livescan).
Check or money order for payment (we can not accept cash or credit cards).

Costs for Livescan
  The University Police Department charges the following fees for Livescan processing.
     
  General Public $25.00
  SFSU Faculty / Staff $15.00
  SFSU Students $5.00
     
  In addition, the different agencies who provide the background checks charge their own processing fees. Depending on the type of background check you require, you will be charged one or more of the following fees. These fees are subject to change without notice.
     
  Department of Justice $32.00
  FBI $24.00
  Firearms $25.00
  Child Abuse $28.00


Costs for Ink (hardcard)
  The Department of Public Safety charges the following fees for ink fingerprinting.
     
  General Public $25.00
  SFSU Faculty / Staff $15.00
  SFSU Students $5.00
