Athletes, the Career Center, S.A.F.E. Place, the University Police Department, Educational Opportunity Program,
Enrollment Planning and Management, Financial Aid,
Student Development, and Student Grievance Functions.
The Student Affairs Division is responsible for the
University's environment, providing a positive milieu
for faculty, administrators, and staff, so that students
can learn.
The
University Police Department is a pro-active professional
police agency dedicated to providing a safe environment
for our campus community. We implemented a progressive
community policing plan last year with our budgeted
sworn complement of 38 officers. We will expand our
traffic enforcement program to the entire area adjacent
to the campus with particular focus on 19th/Holloway
Avenue and Font Avenue/Lake Merced Boulevard at the
entrance to Lots 19 and 20. We have implemented the
first campus Emergency Medical Technician Program in
Spring 1997 to provide a higher level of emergency service
to the campus community. The Department of Public Safety
consists of a group of dedicated professionals who strive
to serve the academic environment and do it with pride.
In
addition to the normal assignments within the department,
all police officers participate in specialized assignments
and programs so that they can better serve the campus.
The
University Police dispatchers staff the dispatch center
twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Their duties
include: answering all University Police general and emergency
phone lines, providing information to the public, dispatching
officers to calls for service or crimes in progress,
monitor all campus fire and safety alarms, inputting
data into the Police Automated Records and Management
System, inputting data into the California Law Enforcement
Teletype System, logging of crime reports, and assisting
visitors at the University Police counter. The dispatchers
clearly have multiple roles, especially during emergencies,
where they serve as a critical part of our operation.
All
of the dispatchers have attended a three-week Peace
Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Dispatcher
School.
