BICYCLE THEFT
INFORMATION BULLETIN
September 16, 2008

There has been a recent trend of bicycle theft occurring around the campus. This information bulletin is a reminder to keep your bicycle safe. Our data shows that the majority of the bicycle thefts are occurring in the afternoon hours. Stated below are a list of measures you can take in order to help protect your bicycle and your belongings.

Preventive Measures

  • If possible park your bike in the Bicycle Barn
  • Park your bicycle in a well lit area
  • Park your bicycle in a high pedestrian area
  • Use hardened locks (padlocks) and chains (alloy steel) when locking your bike
  • Make sure the locks on your bike are secured
  • Register your bike with the San Francisco State University Police Department

STRONGARM ROBBERIES
INFORMATION BULLETIN
August 26, 2008

#1 - On 08/24/08 at 4:44 P.M., an SFSU student was robbed at 19th and Holloway while standing on the MUNI platform waiting for the train.

The unknown suspect  approached the victim as they were boarding the train, then grabbed her laptop computer from her hands and fled  the area on foot.

The suspect is described as a light complected black or Latin male adult, 20 – 25 years old, 5’-5” to 5’-6”, 145 lbs, wearing a white baseball cap, light blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white shoes and has a tattoo on his neck.

#2 – On 08/25/08 at 4:35 P.M., an SFSU Faculty member was robbed in Lot 19, 4th floor as she was approaching her car.

The unknown suspect  approached the victim, pushed her against the car , then threatened her  while demanding her belongings. The suspect  then took the victim’s purse and fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described as a light complected black or Latin male adult,  20 – 25 years old, 145 lbs, wearing a white baseball cap, light blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, and thin black mustache.

The State University Police Department has increased patrols in the affected areas.
