The University Park apartment community is composed of University Park North located near the Stonestown Galleria and University Park SouthThe University Park community is the perfect housing option for San Francisco State University faculty, staff, alumni and students. The University Park Community offers residents unfurnished one to three-bedroom apartments walking distance to the center of campus in 24 verdant acres near Lake Merced.
The University Park Unfurnished Apartment Community does not offer student housing on a bed space basis. For more information about this option, go to SF State Residence Community

Composting program is coming to University Park North

University Park North residents are encouraged to take advantage of this new program to help make UPN a greener and more sustainable community. Green compost bins are located throughout UPN outside of every building and you can receive a free kitchen pail for your apartment to assist with collecting compostable matter to carry down to the green bins. Members of SF Environment and SF State students and volunteers will begin to go door to door on Wednesday evenings from 4:30 until 7:30 PM to distribute kitchen pails and information to all residents on the following schedule:


  • August 31: Addresses 225, 235, 255,265, 285, 295
  • September 7 : Addresses 325, 335, 385, 387, 415-460
  • September 14: Addresses 155, 157, 165, 175, 185, 187, 196, 197, 200, 202, 220, 230, 240, 250, 252, 260, 270, 272, 280, 290, 292, 330, 342, 350, 360, 370, 372
  • September 21: Addresses 9-145

If you are not home when the volunteers visit your building, you can come to the Residential Life Office at 17 Buckingham Way to get your free kitchen pail and information. Hours for the Residential Life Office are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday.


Large green compostable bins are available throughout the community for your use. Thanks you in advance for your cooperation and support of this important environmental initiative and for helping University Park North take part in the City and County of San Francisco's composting program!
