  2. Create a movie clip behavior
    1. Open ballmovie.fla from the Flash II folder
    2. Save the file on the desktop as my_movie.fla
    3. Select all the frames in the timeline
    4. Copy the frames
    5. In the menu tool bar choose Insert > New Symbol

                                                               i.      Name it bb

                                                             ii.      Choose movie clip

    1. In symbol editing mode

                                                               i.      Select the 1st frame in the timeline

                                                             ii.      Paste all frames

    1. You now have animated symbol
  1. Insert the movie clip into scene 1
    1. Go back to scene 1
    2. Select all frames

                                                               i.      Show different ways of selecting frames

    1. Remove all frames
    2. Select the 1st frame
    3. Insert a keyframe
    4. Open the Library
    5. Click drag and drop the symbol on the stage
    6. Move the symbol to the top left hand corner of the stage
    7. Now all 98 frames are in 1 frame
  1. Insert text
    1. Create and rename a new layer
    2. Rename layer one as ball
    3. Inset text, “Click the button below to drop the ball”
    4. Format the text
    5. Open the Align palette and align the text with the ball
  2. Create a button
    1. Insert a new layer and rename it
    2. Create a rectangle with no stroke and a red fill
    3. Show how to use the Info palette

                                                               i.      Exact size and positioning of the shape

    1. Select the shape and convert it to a symbol

                                                               i.      Choose Button behavior and name it button

                                                             ii.      Go into symbol editing mode

    1. Nest a symbol by converting the shape to a graphic symbol in the button symbol editing mode
    2. Insert keyframes in the Up, Over, Down, and Hit

                                                               i.      Up is the original view

                                                             ii.      Over is the rollover or mouse over view

                                                            iii.      Down is when the user clicks on the button

                                                           iv.      Hit is the clickable region

    1. Create the special effects

                                                               i.      Change the color of the instance of the graphic in the up frame

                                                             ii.      Move the shape in the down frame

    1. Insert text

                                                               i.      Create a new layer

                                                             ii.      Name the layer, text

                                                            iii.      Rename layer one to shape

                                                           iv.      Choose the text tool

1.      Type out, Bounce!

2.      Move the text into the center of the rectangle

                                                             v.      Insert a keyframe in the down frame of the text layer

                                                           vi.      Move the text to the center of the rectangle in the down frame

                                                          vii.      Go back to scene 1

    1. Two kinds of Actions, Frame and Object

                                                               i.      Discuss the difference and common mistakes

    1. Move the 1st frame keyframe of the ball layer to the 10th frame of it’s own layer
    2. Play the movie by choosing Control > Test Movie

                                                               i.      This saves a .swf on the desktop

                                                             ii.      You now are viewing the animation in Flash

    1. Notice it blinks, we need to stop the movie in the first frame
    2. Create a new layer and rename it, actions
    3. Select the 1st frame of the actions layer
    4. Open the Actions palette
    5. Make sure it says Actions – Frame
    6. Open the Actions book, and then Movie Control
    7. Double click on the stop action
    8. Minimize the palette
    9. Choose Control > Test Movie
    10. Go back to scene 1

    1. Create a new layer and name it labels
    2. Create an movie beginning point

                                                               i.      Select the 1st keyframe

                                                             ii.      Open the properties palette

                                                            iii.      In the frame label text box type, intro

    1. Create a point to go to the ball

                                                               i.      Select the 1st keyframe of the ball layer

                                                             ii.      Open the properties palette

                                                            iii.      In the frame label text box type, ball

    1. Attach an object action to the button

                                                               i.      Select the button instance

                                                             ii.      Open the Actions palette

                                                            iii.      Make sure it says actions – button

                                                           iv.      Choose goto

                                                             v.      In the middle of the palette choose

1.      Goto and Stop

2.      Type > Frame Label

3.      Frame > Ball

    1. Preview the movie
    2. Go back to scene one
  1. Create a sound
    1. Go to the button symbol editing mode
    2. Import sound to library
    3. Create a new layer and call it sound
    4. Insert a keyframe in the down frame
    5. Click drag and drop the sound from the Library on the stage
    6. Preview the movie
    7. Go back to scene one
  2. Class challenge to stop the ball
    1. Challenge the class to stop the ball at the end of it’s cycle
    2. After a while show them how to do this

                                                               i.      Go into symbol editing mode of the bb

                                                             ii.      Insert a new layer

                                                            iii.      Rename the layer actions

                                                           iv.      Rename layer one, call it ball

                                                             v.      Select the 98th frame of the actions layer

                                                           vi.      Insert a key frame

                                                          vii.      Insert a stop action

    1. Preview the movie
    2. Go back to scene one
  1. Insert a raster graphic
    1. Choose import to Library and import the homer.gif image
    2. Open the Library and see the image
    3. Create a new layer in scene one
    4. Rename it homer
    5. Insert a keyframe on frame 20
    6. Click drag and drop the image onto the stage
  2. Class challenge to change the button to go to homer
    1. Challenge the class to change the button action so that when it is clicked the first time the image shows in the stage and stops there
    2. After a while show the class how to do this

                                                               i.      Create a label for the 20th frame of the labels layer, homer

                                                             ii.      Go to the button action

                                                            iii.      Change the frame from ball to homer

                                                           iv.      Preview the movie

                                                             v.      Go back to scene one
