In Detail:

 

  1. Review Flash II lesson
    1. Working with multiple layers

  2. Set up the document
    1. Save the file on the desktop
    2. Change the Document properties

                                                               i.      Background color to black

                                                             ii.      FPS to 20

  1. Create a text fade in fade out effect
    1. Rename layer one, Flash Movie Text
    2. Create Text

                                                               i.      Insert text,  A Flash Movie

                                                             ii.      Change font properties

                                                            iii.      Align the text to the center of the stage

                                                           iv.      Convert the text into a graphic symbol

    1. Text fade animation

                                                               i.      Insert a keyframe into the 60th frame

                                                             ii.      Select the instance of the symbol in the 1st frame

                                                            iii.      In the properties palette, choose Color > Alpha > 0%

                                                           iv.      Insert a motion tween in the 1st frame

                                                             v.      Hit enter to play the movie in Flash (does not save a .swf)

    1. Challenge the class to have it pause and then fade out

                                                               i.      After a while show them how to do it

  1. Text position change animation
    1. Create a new layer, by
    2.  Determine at what point of time you want the text, by, to come into the stage, then insert a key frame on that layer
    3. use the Text tool to create by
    4. Move the text of the stage and to the right
    5. Center align the text vertically to the stage
    6. Convert the text to a symbol
    7. Following the same procedure as the ball in Flash One, motion tween the text to move in to the center of the stage
    8. Pause the text
    9. Fade out the text
  2. Text fade in and scale change tween
    1. Create a new layer, [your name]
    2. Insert a keyframe where you want the text to appear
    3. Type out your name and center align it horizontally and vertically to the stage
    4. Convert the text to a symbol
    5. Insert a keyframe 30 frames forward
    6. Select the first keyframe with the name text
    7. Choose the Free Transform Tool
    8. Rescale the instance on the stage
    9. Change the Alpha to 0%
    10. Insert a motion tween
    11. Hit enter and watch the animation
  3. Create another scene
    1. Open the scene palette
    2. In the bottom right hand corner choose add scene
    3. Rename the two scenes as intro and home
    4. Show how to toggle between scenes
  4. Create a guide animation
    1. Create the graphic to animate

                                                               i.      Rename layer one the ball

                                                             ii.      Make a ball with no stroke and a red/black gradient fill

                                                            iii.      Convert the ball to a symbol

    1. Create the Guide

                                                               i.      In the Timeline palette, to the right of the Create a New Layer button, choose Add Motion Guide

                                                             ii.      Select the frame

                                                            iii.      Use the pen tool to create a path

1.      Make sure to have a white stroke to see the path

    1. Create the animation

                                                               i.      Move the center of the ball to the beginning of the path

                                                             ii.      Insert a keyframe in the 60th frame of the ball layer

                                                            iii.      Selec the 60th frame of the guide layer and choose F5 (inserts blank frames

                                                           iv.      Move the ball in the 60th frame to the end point of the guide path

                                                             v.      Insert a motion tween on the first frame of the ball layer

    1. Play the animation

                                                               i.      Choose Control > Test Movie

                                                             ii.      Go back to the home scene

  1. Stop the movie in another scene
    1. Create a new layer, call it actions
    2. Insert a keyframe in the 60th or last frame that has any graphics
    3. Insert a stop action in that keyframe
  2. Create a sound loop
    1. Go back to the intro scene
    2. Create a new layer, soundloop
    3. Open a browser and go to www.flashkit.com
    4. Get a soundloop and save it on the desktop

                                                               i.      Discuss the difference between .wav and .mp3

                                                             ii.      .wav or other raw files are best

    1. Import the sound into the library
    2. Open the library and go to the properties of the sound

                                                               i.      Explain compression choices

                                                             ii.      Choose MP3

                                                            iii.      Test low bit rate and high bit rate

    1. Select the 1st frame of the soundloop layer
    2. Click drag and drop the sound file in the scene
    3. In the Properties palette select Loop > 99999 times
    4. Play the movie
    5. Go back to scene one
  1. Create a skip intro button using onion skins
    1. Create a new layer, rename it skip intro
    2. Insert text on the 1st frame, skip intro
    3. Convert the text to a button symbol
    4. Go into symbol editing mode

                                                               i.      Rename the layer

                                                             ii.      Nest a text graphic symbol

                                                            iii.      Insert keyframes in all frames

                                                           iv.      Create another layer, shape

                                                             v.      Insert a keyframe in the hit region

                                                           vi.      Choose the rectangle tool and create a region around the text

                                                          vii.      Click the Onion Skin option in the Timeline just below the Up and Over frames

    1. Go back to the intro scene
    2. Select the button and insert a go to and play action

                                                               i.      Choose Scene > Home

                                                             ii.      Type > Frame Number

                                                            iii.      Frame > 1

    1. Choose Control > Test Movie
  1. Challenge the class to create a stop sounds text button in the home scene
    1. Show them where the stopAll Sounds action is in the Actions palette
    2. After a while show them how to do it.
  2. Organize the layers
    1. Go to the intro scene
    2. To the right of the Add Motion Guide, select Insert Layer Folder

                                                               i.      Rename the folder to Text Animation

                                                             ii.      Click drag and drop the text animations into the folder

                                                            iii.      Close the folder

  1. Organize your Library
    1. Open the Library palette
    2. Select the New Folder option in the bottom right-hand corner of the palette

                                                               i.      Rename the folder, intro text animation

                                                             ii.      Click drag and drop the items in the folder

  1. Publish Settings
    1. Choose File > Publish Settings
    2. Cover each of the three tabs
    3. Save .fla
    4. Choose control > Test Movie to save the .swf
