Fall '08

We recently heard good news from Julie Strubinger (Certificate '05) who, while living in Northern California, is in charge of client and marketing operations for two online companies. According to her online biography, "she manages the online marketing processes for all clients, and serves as a consultant to drive traffic and create successful campaigns."

Kalonica McQuesten (BA '01) is now working at a major university in the East Bay. One of her projects consisted of redesigning and editing the police department's annual publication. Her supervisor nominated her for a Spot Award, which highlights her exceptional work on the publication. The Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief of Police commented on the publication saying, "Everything from the cover design, to the interior color scheme, to the very nice layout inside the front cover, to the streamlined text makes this year's Safety Counts the best in years." That's great!

Good news! Gina Crescenti (BA '02) is working in business development at an experience design firm in the city while pursuing her MBA. She says, "Every day at work I utilize something I learned from the program: documentation management, writing, editing, documentation development". That is fantastic!

Don't miss TPW's Returning Graduates Panel on Monday, November 17, from 6-8pm in HUM 587.

Congratulations to Christy Blackman (Certificate expected '09) who has won a Kenneth M. Gordon Memorial Scholarship! Christy was awarded $750. The Gordon award is based on merit and is sponsored by the Northern California chapters of the Society for Technical Communication.

We recently heard from Carol John (BA '06) who has been accepted into a postgraduate certificate program at Indiana Univesity, Bloomington. She is also working as a contractor with a major computer company in Silicon Valley where she says the "work is intense, but a great place to learn new skills."

Heather Reynolds (BA '07) has landed a job in the South Bay working as a tech writer for a major computer company. She found the position through networking at our annual TPW Spring Career Workshop. Nice networking!

We have our own VIP! One of TPW's faculty members, K.C. Price, who teaches Grantwriting, was recently featured in the San Francisco Chronicle in an article detailing his promotion to executive director for a non-profit company called Frameline. Frameline is a company that sponsors and distributes film and video programs in the LGBT community as well as hosts the well-known San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival. Congratulations K.C.!
