In the College of Education at San Francisco State University (SFSU), a college of 3400 students (700 teacher graduates annually), technology is integrated into the curriculum throughout a student's enrollment, using modularized courses for technology skills acquisition and redesigned teacher education courses for curriculum integration skills acquisition. The Department of Special Education will help the project to test and implement new and emerging technologies for use by regular and special learners. Collaboration with faculty from four other SFSU colleges will ensure the integration of technology into all subject matter areas, utilizing classroom technology innovations such as digital microscopes and satellite image mapping.

With the help of Oracle Corporation and Apple Computer, the project will create the Community of Online Learners (COOL) for continuous communication, access to resources, sharing ideas and dissemination of new online learning materials. Apple will also help implement strategies for using digital video in instruction, documenting and infusing technology in teaching through inquiry-based projects. Best practices will be disseminated via the World Wide Web.
