About Sustainability

The three components of sustainable development are healthy environment, social justice, and economic growth.  When they overlap, there is a sustainable society.

 

 

 

 

 

Sustainability Defined

There are many definitions of sustainability. Presently, the field of sustainability integrates many disciplines including; economic development, the natural and built environment, energy efficiency, food systems and justice, and social equity.

 

Sustainability Committee

San Francisco State University founded its Campus Wide Sustainability Committee in the fall of 2008. The committee works with faculty, students, staff, and administrators to stimulate discussion and ideas to facilitate the adoption of practices, policies and projects designed to improve the future environmental, social and economic sustainability of the campus community.
