Getting Started

SF State has always been commited to providing "its students, faculty, and staff
with international experiences, perspectives, and competencies" as stated in the Goal IV of its stategic plan. Here's why you should consider studying abroad and how to get started.

 

Currently enrolled in an MBA program, you are already investing for your future, gaining significant management and business skills and advancing on your path to a fulfulling career. Many companies seek employees with international and cross-cultural skills, such as those you will develop on an SF State certified study abroad program. Adding international experience to your resume will expand your employment opportunities and, consequently, your income potential. But you will also embark on a self-exploratory journey that will shape you as an individual.

 

 

STEP 1

Familiarize yourself with the following unique benefits of SF State Certified Study Abroad programs:

1) Courses count as resident SF State credit, and will count towards your MBA.

2) Pay only your regular SF State MBA tuition and fees, living expenses, and your plane ticket! Contrary to many MBA institutions, you pay no premium to go abroad, nor do you pay extra enrollment fees or tuition costs. Since many locations around the world are actually cheaper to live in than San Francisco , MBA students often spend less money in their summer, semester or year abroad than they would by staying in San Francisco.

3) All Financial Aid applies. Any loans grants or scholarships you qualify for through FAFSA will apply 100% to your study abroad experience. In fact, by studying abroad, you may become eligible for scholarships that aren't otherwise available to you. For more information, visit the Scholarship and Financing page.

 

If you are able to make your way onto SF State's main campus, you can attend one of our several weekly information meetings. Meetings are hosted four times a week at the following times:

Monday @ 10am
Tuesday @ 11am
Wednesday @ 2pm
Thursday @ 2pm

All meetings take place in the Office of International Programs, Village at Centennial Square, Building C (Next to Patelco Credit Union). Additional meeting are periodically scheduled outside of these times and are listed on our calendar.




STEP 2

Research and identify a program that corresponds to your academic goals by visiting the MBA Study Abroad Programs page.

Make a list of the MBA requirements you have yet to complete and compare it to the course offerings at the host universities.


STEP 3

Meet with your Study Abroad Advisers on the downtown campus.
