These are freeware or shareware based software that you can download for free and should find useful.  If you need Microsoft Products like MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, etc., the SFSU offers the software at reduced rates.  Click here for more details.

I highly suggest you consider using Mozilla Firefox for your web-browser as it is much more secure than either Microsoft Explore or Netscape Navigator with less chance of spyware or viruses popping up.

Spyware is a big problem so here are some really good tools to use on your computer:  I suggest that you download them ALL and use them in conjunction with each other.

SFSU gives out MacAfee Virus Scan 8.0 for free and just download it here:  Make sure you choose perpetual subscription.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is the universal PDF file reader and is needed if you are using Blackboard at SFSU.  Download it here:

If you don't have MS Word but have Word documents you need to read or print, you can download and use the MS Word Reader to do so:
