Professional Level II Education Specialist in
Visual Impairments

Candidates in the Professional Clear Level II Education Specialist Credential have 5 years in which to complete the program. During those five years, candidates must complete a minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching employment, or equivalent, in their credential area, in addition to all program requirements approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Enrollment in courses for the Level II program must be completed as a matriculating student with regular university registration. Absence from enrollment for two consecutive semesters requires readmission to the university. Check website for application deadlines.

Addtitional Courses to clear the Level II Education Specialist Credential:
  • Health Education (H ED 630, H ED 635 or other HED course approved by other campus);
  • CPR (online course not acceptable) – must cover infant, child and adult CPR; and
  • Technology (ITEC 601, or approved substitution technology course).

A Credential Approved Program (CAP) form for Level II is available in the Special Education office. You may use this form as a checklist for both course work and documentation. Your Advisor’s signature on the CAP form authorizes any course substitutions evaluated and approved. Provide the CAP form to the Credential Analyst to facilitate your application for the award of the credential.
