Hiring Spanish Teachers (San Francisco)

Be a Part of Something New – and Growing!

POSITION OVERVIEW

Lango, a Bay Area-based foreign-language program, is seeking teachers for its Spanish classes for young children (ages 1-7), to be taught throughout San Francisco.

We are looking for individuals that are energetic, outgoing and eager to engage children through very fast-paced dynamic and interactive games, movement and music-based classes. A high level of comfort with dramatic play, puppets and physical activities is a must for this job. These are extremely fun classes but they require that you be flexible and open to new and creative approaches to teaching Spanish to young children!

Responsibilities

·         Teach dynamic 45 minute play-based immersion classes (no English is spoken) to one or more of our class levels:

o        Parent & Tot for children ages 18 months-3 years old (with caregivers)

o        Pre-school for children 3-5 years old

o        Elementary for children 5-7 years old

·         Use feedback gained in teaching these classes to further develop and improve the curriculum and materials.

Required Qualifications

·         Fluency in Spanish – native or fully fluent with no discernable American accent

·         Experience teaching young children, preferably in a Spanish language context

·         Incredibly energetic and dramatic; an outgoing personality, high level of enthusiasm, self-confidence and no self-consciousness are a must for this position!

·         Some academic background in Spanish language and Spanish instruction, preferably to young children.

Other Beneficial Qualifications

Hours and Compensation

Hours are quite flexible. Our classes for Tot & Parent are typically in the am and early afternoon and Pre-school and Elementary classes are in the late afternoon. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday.

This is a part-time teaching opportunity. The number of classes you teach will depend on your availability.  Hours typically range from 2 – 6 hours a week (ideal opportunity for a student or anyone with a part-time or flexible schedule). We are also exploring the possibility of opening a Lango summer camp in San Francisco, and would need teachers to staff those programs (a few hours per day for five days or more). Compensation ranges from $25 - $35/ per class DOE and includes bonus earned for every family enrolling in your class!
