The Graduate Essay Test

The university requires that graduate students demonstrate the ability to write in English.  Our department requires that students take the Graduate Essay Test (GET).  The exam is given on a Saturday in August for the Fall semester and on a Saturday in January for the Spring semester. Students who do not pass the GET need to take one of the GET classes through the College of Extended Learning.

The test is given by the Testing Center.  There is a $25 fee to take the test.  Go here for the registration form. Registration for the GET is required a month in advance of the exam date. However, the $25.00 fee (check or money order only) is paid on the day of the exam.

The Testing Center has a FAQ page about the GET, and includes a sample question.  Go here for information about how the test is scored.
