Great American Smokeout

The Great American Smokeout Day occurs annually on the third Thursday in November. The American Cancer Society sponsors this event to get people to quit smoking cigarettes for 24 hours or hopefully longer.

If you or someone you know smokes, this would be a good time to remind them how much you love them and be supportive of all their attempts at quitting.

The Student Health Service plans educational activities on that day to help SFSU students, staff, and faculty stop smoking and to inform them of the numerous stop smoking resources on and off campus.

On August 23, 2004, SFSU campus became a smoke-free campus. With the exception of a few small, designated areas, smoking will be prohibited on all University-owned or leased property.

Please check this website in November to learn more about the Great American Smokeout Day activities.
