Mission Statement
The Department of Preventive Medicine promotes healthy living and well-being that facilitates retention and graduation and reduces systematic health disparities for all students, educates students to develop the skills for life-long health awareness about preventive care and management of their own health.

Extra Credit for Healthy Future Workshops
(nutrition, sexual health, relationships, stress reduction)
PEACH: Peer Educators Advocating Campus Health Program
(sexual health and nutrition peers)
Peers Nutrition Assessment Clinic
(Diet assessment, blood pressure screening, body mass index and waist:hip ratio measurements)
Peer HIV Antibody Testing & Counseling Clinic
Medical Nutrition Therapy:
(Special diet for medical conditions operated by the Registered Dietitian)
Health Promotion Clinic
(Smoking cessation, sexuality and sexual health concerns, stress reduction, relationship issues, etc. operated by the Health Educators).
Health Outreach Events
For example: Hepatitis B Free Screening Program, Stress Relief Day, African American Health Fair, World AIDS Day, Multicultural AIDS Day, Holiday Bonanza (alcohol and holiday eating awareness), Student Health Service Open House, National Nutrition Month, Women’s Health (Komen on the Go Breast Cancer Awareness
