Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy
A number of rehabilitation services are available to all students by referral from a physician. The services designed to serve the needs of students active in recreational sports, musicians, dancers, theatre artists, and BECA majors. Any musculoskeletal condition which interferes with, or is the result of these activities warrants a referral.
The Rehabilitation Clinic is available for SFSU students who can benefit from exercise based therapy programs to recover from muscular-skeletal injuries. The programs are individually tailored to each student's needs. The clinic is staffed by a certified athletic trainer. There is a charge for this clinic. Physical Therapy is available on a limited basis and by referral from a physician. The time and day of the physical therapy clinic varies each semester so please call (415) 338-1402 in advance for the latest schedule. There is a per semester charge for this clinic.
Rehabilitation Services Staff
Sekou Ford, MD - Board certified physician in Family Medicine with an additional fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine. Dr. Ford specializes in non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
Jeff McCurtain A.T.C. - a certified athletic trainer since 1991, Jeff has had many years of experience with our performing arts majors. He has particular expertise in designing rehabilitation programs for injured students which fit individual schedules.
Orthopedic Surgeons - On a case by case basis, appropriate orthopedic injuries can be referred to local orthopedic surgeons who sub-specialize in sports injuries.
