Optometry Clinic
The Student Health Service is pleased to offer the Optometry Clinic that is operated by faculty and interns from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. The Optometry Clinic will ONLY accept credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover). There is no pre payment necessary as you will pay at the time of your appointment.
Regular Semester Clinic hours:
Wednesdays 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Thursdays 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
The Optometry Clinic offers the following services:
- Full dispensary to fill prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses. If you have a valid prescription, you may drop in to select eyeglasses or contact lenses.
- Specialty contact lens fitting, including color contacts, bifocal contacts, and rigid contact lenses.
- Binocular vision services: analysis of strabismus, amblyopia, and other eye-muscle problems.
- Computer eye services: Special examination for individuals experiencing vision problems or symptoms due to extensive computer use.
- Ocular diagnosis services: Special examination procedures for eye and systemic diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, and hypertension.
The cost for the eye examination starts at ($40); for contact lens wearers, the fee STARTS at $60. Refitting charges may vary an additional $25-$100.
Initial appointments are 45 minutes in duration. In the event that you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please contact the Student Health Services in advance at 338-1251 or e-mail cnclappt@sfsu.edu or a $20 no-show fee will be assessed before your appointment can be rescheduled.
