Basic and Augmented Services
The Student Health Services offers basic and augmented services (specialty services) which are supported by the student health fee ($111 per semester). Basic services that are covered by the student health fee include the following:
- Doctor's appointments,
- X-rays performed at the SHS
- Laboratory work performed at the SHS
- Appointments with the nutritionist
- Services provided by the health educators
An additional fee is charged for the following augmented services:
- Pre-placement and study abroad physical exams
- Laboratory tests that are sent to an outside laboratory company for processing
- Elective immunizations
- Optometry clinic appointments
- Podiatry clinic appointments
- Appointments with a psychiatrist (must have a referral)
- Elective laboratory tests not related to basic services
There is no co-payment for your appointment. Check the schedule of prices on the service charges page.
For your convenience, you may call (415) 3381251 and schedule same-day appointments and prescriptions may be dropped off and picked up after class. You can also request refills online.
The SHS DOES NOT provide overnight, weekend, or long-term medical care. Students are referred to local hospitals for most specialist examinations and treatment (e.g. MRI, surgery, etc). The SHS CANNOT assume responsibility for payment of outside medical care including AMBULANCE services. Therefore we strongly recommend that all students purchase the California State University (CSU) recommended health insurance policy.
