We've Got Ph.D. Power

The American Historical Association has ranked SFSU's History Department fourth in the nation for sending master's degree students on to doctoral programs. According to an article in the January issue of Perspectives, the association's news magazine, 39 students in SFSU's M.A. program in history went on to Ph.D. programs between 1981 and 2001, trailing only Columbia University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Chicago, which had just three more students than SFSU.
