Offering Summer Internships in Marine Molecular Biology to Outstanding Undergraduate Students Purpose: To support summer training of undergraduate students who are pursuing study in the biological sciences at one of 3 major research institutions: Princeton University, University of California at Santa Cruz and the Romberg Tiburon Center of SFSU. These internships are to provide summer research experience in marine molecular biology research laboratories as part of an on going multi-institutional research project. This research project funded by the Department of Energy within their BIOMP program is a collaboration between Drs Frances Wilkerson and Richard Dugdale (http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~phytopl/) at SFSU, Dr. Bess Ward (http://geoweb.princeton.edu/faculty/index.html) at Princeton University and Dr. Jonathan Zehr (http://oceansci.ucsc.edu/CVs/zehrCV.html) at UC Santa Cruz. It is entitled "The coupling between carbon and nitrogen cycles in coastal upwelling ecosystems; biogeochemical cycling and its molecular basis". It is expected that successful undergraduates will acquire training in molecular and/or oceanographic tehniques and procedures and contribute to the on-going research programs in each collaborating laboratory.
ARE YOU INTERESTED? Open to Juniors (i.e. 2 years away from graduation) who have a B (3.0) grade point average and have completed BIOL 230 and 240 (Introductory Biology I and II) Please provide the following information:
