SF State Downtown Campus
Sustaining Excellence in the 21St Century
Building and Refining Proud Traditions
Faculty and Staff Development Retreat Thursday, January 22, 2009
San Francisco State’s Academic Senate and the Retreat Planning Committee organize a biennial faculty and staff retreat to foster community, plan for our betterment, and improve our service to our students and our world.
Since its establishment as a teacher training college 110 years ago, SF State has been at the forefront of serving the community and educating tomorrow’s leaders. This tradition was reinforced 40 years ago with the establishment of the College of Ethnic Studies. Given this proud history and our hopes and visions for the future, the theme for our upcoming retreat is “Sustaining Excellence in the 21st Century: Building and Refining Proud Traditions.”
We invite you to submit a program proposal, whether as an individual or with colleagues. This is an opportunity to share your research, creative endeavors, or service projects; to discuss approaches to educating the “millennial” student for success in a global context; to participate in the SF State community; to discover new approaches to professional and personal development; and to meet friends and exchange ideas with colleagues old and new. Like the university itself, the retreat will be intellectually stimulating, rejuvenating, and fun.
The retreat will be held at SF State’s Downtown Campus (835 Market Street). Please note there will be a nominal registration fee for attending the retreat.
