Intercollegiate Athletics Programs in the CSU

At its meeting of April 21, 1992, the Academic Senate unanimously approved the following resolution:

WHEREAS |
The Academic Senate, CSU, is considering a document entitled Principles for Intercollegiate Athletics Programs in the CSU; and |
|
WHEREAS |
The first five of these principles affirm the primacy of the educational mission and the central role of the faculty in preserving academic values; and |
|
WHEREAS |
The remaining paragraphs set forth operational guidelines for the conduct of all intercollegiate athletics programs in the CSU; and |
|
WHEREAS |
The faculty of San Francisco State University affirms the importance of both intercollegiate athletics and academic values and standards in such programs; therefore be it |
|
RESOLVED |
That the Academic Senate, San Francisco State University, endorse the first five Principles of Intercollegiate Programs in the CSU; and be it further |
|
RESOLVED |
That the Academic Senate, San Francisco State University, urge the Academic Senate, CSU, to ensure that all operational guidelines are appropriate for the diverse character and broad range of the intercollegiate athletics programs in the CSU. |
