RESOLUTION CALLING ON CSU TRUSTEES
TO PROVIDE BROADER FACULTY REPRESENTATION
ON THE SEARCH COMMITTEE FOR CHANCELLOR

At its meeting of September 9, 1997, the Academic Senate approved unanimously the following resolution calling on CSU Trustees to provide broader faculty representation on the Search Committee for Chancellor:

WHEREAS |
CSU faculty are significantly affected by the leadership of the CSU system; and |

WHEREAS |
There is a long tradition of substantial faculty inclusion in the process of selecting a new Chancellor; and |
|
WHEREAS |
The only faculty member included in the present Chancellor search process is the faculty representative on the Board of Trustees; and |
|
WHEREAS |
That sole faculty representative on the Board of Trustees, despite his superior contributions in that role, cannot represent the full range of faculty perspectives and insights needed in the search process; therefore be it |

RESOLVED |
That the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University affirms its unwavering support of broad-based faculty inclusion in the Search Committee for Chancellor; and be it further |

RESOLVED |
That the Academic Senate of San Francisco State University strongly urges the CSU Board of Trustees to reconstitute the Search Committee for Chancellor to include at least two additional faculty members to be chosen by the CSU Statewide Academic Senate. |
