Academic Senate Meeting Minutes for May 16, 2006

CALLED TO ORDER: 4:05 p.m.

AGENDA ITEM #1—APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA FOR MAY 16th, 2006

The agenda was approved unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #2 – ELECTION OF SENATE OFFICERS FOR 2006-2007

Chair Colvin opened nominations from the floor for the Executive Officers of the Academic Senate. The following individuals were elected to their respective offices:

David Meredith, Chair (by acclimation);

Pauline Velez, Vice Chair;

Gene Chelberg, Secretary (by acclimation);

Connie Ulasewicz, 1^st At-Large Member; and

Josh Levine , 2^nd At-Large Member.

AGENDA ITEM #3 – RECOMMENDATION from the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE – RESOLUTION ON THE SUMMER SENATE – a consent item – 1st & 2nd readings

BE IT RESOLVED by the Academic Senate that the Academic Senate Executive Committee shall be designated as the summer committee of the Academic Senate specified in Section II, Sub-section E, Paragraph 3 of the by-laws of the Academic Senate, and that this summer committee shall be authorized to take action, consistent with the Constitution of the Faculty and the by-laws of the Academic Senate, with a quorum of six.

The resolution was passed unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #4—ADJOURNED—5:00 p.m.

NOTA BENE: Upon completion of Agenda Item 3, the first meeting of the 2006-2007 session of the Academic Senate was adjourned. Members were directed to immediately reassemble as committees, for the election of committee chairs.

The following committee chairs were elected for the 2006-2007 AY:

Genie Stowers, APRC

Eileen Levy, CRAC

Jim Kohn, FAC

Ken Fehrman, SAC
