Hospitality Management Program Committee Meeting May 17,2007

Members Present: Jim Murphy, Bo Hu, Mehmet Ergul, David Jones, hnet Sim, Yumi Satow, Nancy Rabolt, Pat Tierney. Guests: Wanda Lee, Caran Colvin

At the Hospitality Management Program Committee (HMPC) meeting on Thursday, May 17,2007, the committee approved, with one abstention, the following actions:

1. REC 260 will be added to the HM core, renumbered as a 300 level course with the same title and revised content, and cross-listed with HM.

a.. The course proposal form for the REC/HM 300 level course will be submitted to Academic Affairs in Fall 2007 pending approval of the proposal form by the .H1vfPC.

  1. REC 605 will replace REC 260 in the International Tourism Management emphasis pending approval by the HMPC of the REC 605 syllabus.
  2. Remove ISYS 263 as a prerequisite to the HM core and to HM 364. Incorporate ISYS 263 content into HM 364, pending approval by the CoB Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (DCC).

a. If the CoB,VCC does not approve the removal of the ISYS 263 prerequisite, the emphases will be reduced to 9 units with the following requirement: "Choose 2 of the 3 courses listed in each emphasis plus an elective upon advisement."

At the meeting, the foHowing issues were identified for discussion in AY 2007-2008:

1. Discuss cross-listing~C 677, Adv. Conference/Event. Planning Management,

with HM, and review the proposal to move REC 677 from experimental to full course status.

2. Governance structure of the HM program as described in the MOU dated March 6, 1990~
