Resolution in support of Education
Goals for the Baccalaureate Degree at
San Francisco State University
Whereas In
2005 the Academic Senate passed Policy
#F05-237, Guidelines for the External Review of University-Wide
Baccalaureate Degree Requirements at SFSU; and
Whereas With
that policy the Academic Senate created the Graduation Requirements Task Force
(GRTF), charged with Òdeveloping a plan for implementing changes to the current
university-wide baccalaureate degree requirements based on a review of the
self-study and the external reviewersÕ recommendations, and broad consultation
with the campus communityÓ; and
Whereas After
broad consultation with faculty, staff, student and with the Academic Senate, the
GRTF has now produced a document that states the educational goals for the
Baccalaureate at San Francisco State University; and
Whereas The
GRTF continues to work toward re-designing the undergraduate program for the
baccalaureate degree, including a revision of the General Education program;
now, therefore, be it
Resolved That
the Academic Senate commends the work of the GRTF, and endorses the document,
ÒEducational Goals for the Baccalaureate at San Francisco State UniversityÓ;
and be it further
Resolved That
the Academic Senate eagerly anticipates GRTFÕs continued collaboration toward a
revised program of university-wide baccalaureate degree requirements.
