REAPPORTIONMENT OF THE SENATE FOR SPRING 2008 ELECTIONS

 

The constitution requires an annual reapportionment of the senate, based on the utilization of faculty positions during the preceding fall semester.  The constitution calls for a senate of 60-65 members, as follows:

 

• 8-10 elected at large by the voting members of the faculty
• 3 state senators
• 3 student representatives
• 1 staff representative
• 6 administrative representatives
• 1 t/tt representative from each college and the library (total = 9)
• 1 representative from student services
• 1 lecturer from each college and the library (total = 9)

 

The remaining (23-25) members of the senate are to be elected by the voting faculty and from the t/tt faculty of the colleges, the library, and student affairs. They are to be apportioned among those units based on the FTEF of the preceding fall semester. Column 6 shows the proportions to be used to reapportion the 23, 24, or 25 senators that are available to be apportioned among units. Columns 7, 8, and 9 show the results of reapportioning using, respectively, 23, 24, and 25 senators as the base.
