AGENDA ITEM #3 –INTRODUCTION OF NEW COLLEGE DEANS 

New deans: Sheldon Axler, College of Science & Engineering; Gerald Platt, College of Business; Paul Sherwin,College of Humanities; and Gail Whitaker, College of Extended Learning, will be introduced to the senate and they will comment briefly on their visions for their colleges.

AGENDA ITEM #8—RECOMMENDATION FROM THE FACULTY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE:APPROVAL OF CHANGES IN THE POLICY FOR THE COMMITTEE ON THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN SUBJECTS—Time Certain No Later Than 3:40 p.m.

The Faculty Affairs Committee unanimously recommends approval the attached changes in the policy defining the composition and charge of the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects.This is only one part of the larger policy.For the full policy, see <http://www.sfsu.edu/~senate/4H.htm>.Because this committee needs to be up and operating as soon as possible, the committee recommends that the rules be waived to take action on this matter at this meeting.

AGENDA ITEM #9—RECOMMENDATION FROM THE FACULTY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE:APPROVAL OF CHANGES IN COMPOSITION OF HIRING COMMITTEES—Time Certain No Later Than 3:45 p.m.

The Faculty Affairs Committee unanimously recommends approval of the attached changes in the policy on tenure-track (probationary) faculty serving on hiring committees.

AGENDA ITEM #10—RECOMMENDATION FROM THE STUDENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE:APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION ON VOTER REGISTRATION—Time Certain No Later Than 3:55 p.m.

The Student Affairs Committee unanimously recommends the approval of the attached resolution on voter registration.The committee will recommend that the rules be waived to take final action on this resolution during this meeting.
