AGENDA ITEM #10 - PROPOSED RESOLUTION: PRINCIPLES FOR YEAR-ROUND, OFF-CAMPUS, AND WEEKEND OPERATIONS (YOWO): a consent item from the Academic Policies Committee- Time Certain No Later Than 3:00 p.m.

This item was first presented at the April 25, 2000 Academic Senate meeting as a discussion item. It returns today as a consent item from the Academic Policies Committee.

As San Francisco State University attempts to reach an increasing number of students in a variety of new ways, new modes of delivery of curriculum are necessary. However, it is vital that the faculty and administration agree to certain principles before embarking on new ways of operating. With this objective in mind, the Academic Policies Committee submits for consideration the revised "Principles for Year-Round, Off-Campus, and Weekend Operations".

AGENDA ITEM #11 - PROPOSED RECOMMENDATIONS CONCERNING LECTURER FACULTY: a consent item from the Executive Committee- Time Certain No Later Than 3:15 p.m.

At San Francisco State, just over one half of the teaching faculty are temporary faculty. Since the 1997 establishment of the Ad Hoc Committee on Lecturers, the Senate has sought to identify and address specific policy issues concerning lecturer faculty. The Committee made several policy recommendations, some of which were addressed in the Policy on Temporary Faculty (A.S. Policy F99-160) passed last fall. More recently, the 2000 AsiloCampus Lecturers' Meeting and the Senate sponsored Forum on Lecturers' Issues highlighted additional suggestions to foster a supportive working climate for temporary faculty. These suggestions and remaining ad hoc committee recommendations are addressed in the set of Recommendations Concerning Lecturer Faculty developed by the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee presented this item for discussion at the April 25, 2000 Academic Senate meeting. The revised proposal reflects that discussion.
