IT Security Guidelines
Together with the many opportunities that technology provides, there are an ever increasing number of associated risks. As the campus community relies on computers for so many essential services, it is more important than ever before to employ safeguards to ensure the security of information and reliability of operations.
All members of the SF State community should be knowledgeable about the following three computing concerns:
- protecting your computer
- safeguarding confidential information
- copyright law
This page provides information or links on these topics. If you need assistance or have questions regarding these or other computer issues, contact your department's IT support personnel or the DoIT Help Desk.
Protecting Your Computer
Your actions to protect your computer from theft, viruses, and other online threats are critical to keeping your computer usable and reliable as well as preventing the introduction of malicious threats to the networks we all use and share.
Safeguarding Information
Anyone entrusted with the personal data of others has a duty to safeguard that information. Follow these instructions and procedures to protect confidential and sensitive data.
