RADIOACTIVE WASTE

San Francisco State University generates small amounts of low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) from the use of radioactive materials in research, and from other sources, such as self-illuminated exit signs that contain tritium.
All radioactive waste must be collected by the Radiation Safety Officer or her designee and transferred to temporary storage until shipment to a licensed disposal or treatment facility can be arranged.
